Program Description: The Master of Fine Arts program at the Hartford Art School offers degrees in painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The program is designed to provide advanced, graduate-level education for students seeking careers as practicing artists or as teachers of art at the college level. The core of the program is a series of tutorials in which the student pursues the technical and aesthetic development of his or her art under the guidance and supervision of a professor within the major. In addition to the tutorials, graduate students participate in a variety of advanced educational experiences, including graduate seminars, art history, and elective studies in either studio or academic disciplines.These courses are intended to round out the degree program byproviding general information and support for the student’s individual investigations.
