Program Description: Filmmaking.net was founded in 1994 by Benjamin Craig as the official site for the RAMP FAQ, a collection of answers to frequently asked questions found on the main Usenet newsgroup for filmmakers, rec.arts.movies.production. As the popularity of the Internet grew, new Usenet groups devoted to filmmaking begun to spring up, including alt.movies.independent and rec.arts.movies.tech. The RAMP FAQ was expanded to cover these new forums and renamed the Internet Filmmaker's FAQ.

Program Description: We proudly offer the only Motion Picture degree found in higher education in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The two-year Associate in Arts and Sciences gives students the opportunity to study and produce 16mm films. Many graduates are award winning filmmakers, and some have shot features here. Students in the program can examine all major production areas: scriptwriting, photography, directing and acting. Finished productions will serve as students' portfolios, and can appear on the SCC educational cable channel and in the annual Southwest Film and Video Festival.

Program Description: The program has quality instruction including applied hands-on learning and mentoring by industry professionals. In the first semester students write and edit weekly while rotating through roles of director, producer, camera and sound. This offers the experience of these different primary aspects of the craft of filmmaking. In the second semester each student will write and direct their own short thesis film. They can choose to shoot this project with the schools digital cameras or on any film format that their production budget can afford. Budgets vary from $5 to $50 thousand. We encourage students to stay within their budget and emphasis that a good story told well as a motion picture is the key to a successful short film.
